Valentine's Burlap Heart Banner
I can't seem to stop loving burlap. It's just the perfect balance of rustic and elegance. I have made burlap banners before and I find that the material is very easy to work with. I used some really bright and fun shades of pink, purple, and red to make these hearts. The Valentine's Burlap Heart Banner is tied together with tulle. Tulle is one of my favorite type of ribbon to use for anything because it keeps its shape and doesn't go flat, and I like how it is delicately pretty. It reminds me of a ballerina tutu! You know that I love doing easy crafts and ALL of these supplies can be found at a craft supply like Michael's or even on Amazon if you use Amazon Prime.
Valentine's Burlap Heart Banner
Burlap ribbon; sometimes known as "garland" too; mine was 5" wide
fabric scissors; you can try with regular scissors but it could fray
acrylic craft paint in whatever colors you like
paint brush
ruler
tulle ribbon; or any kind you like
Instructions
*Place the burlap onto a covered table; wax paper or magazines work well; I left mine too long on a sheet by mistake and it stuck... don't do that!
*Measure out every 5 inches using a ruler and mark by cutting the bottom slightly with the scissors
*If your ribbon is 5 inches tall then this will make it a square; you can make these however big or small as you like
*Paint a heart in the center of each square
*Do a second coat if needed
*Allow to dry
*Use the scissors to cut each square out completely
*You can also cut them initially then paint them, but I found it easier to cut them after I painted
*Cut a slit about a 1/2 inch in the parameter of the top of the square (see pictures below) on each side; make sure not to cut too close to the outside of the square otherwise it could fray
*Pull a piece of tulle, about 4-5 inches, through the slit that is cut; tie two of them together by double knotting the ribbon
*Do the same thing with the other squares until they are all tied together
*Hang wherever you like!
