Rice Krispie Flag Cake
I created an American Flag cake a few years back made with sugar cookies, and it is still one of my favorite desserts ever. I love homemade sugar cookies and might even be so bold to say that I like it more than regular cake!! However, I wanted to create something easier for a last-minute celebration with a significant wow factor. My solution? A giant Rice Krispie treat! Anyone can make Rice Krispies! However, this does need to be made with homemade buttercream. I have yet to find a good store-bought frosting.
Add this to your 4th of July menu and be ready to impress! It all starts with two batches of Rice Krispie treats pressed into a 9x13-inch pan. Then, two batches of my buttercream recipe, blueberries, and strawberries make up the decorations on the top. I made this beauty for CA Live along with other 4th of July ideas. Rice Krispie Flag Cake
Ingredients:
Two batches of homemade Rice Krispie Treats (I use the recipe on the box!) pressed into two 9x13-inch baking pans
Tip: It helps to line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper and then spray it with cooking spray before pressing the rice krispies into it. This allows the rice krispies to come out of the pan easily and in one piece.

Directions:
Remove one of the cooled Rice Krispie Treat batches from the pan and place it onto a large serving tray.
Apply a thick layer of buttercream onto the top of the giant Rice Krispie and then place the second batch of Rice Krispies on top and add a thick, even layer of frosting on top.
Use a knife to create a rectangle on the upper left part of the rectangle and fill it with blueberries.
Add raspberries to create the red stripes.
Add the buttercream into a piping bag with a tip and add dollops between the lines of raspberries.
This can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge, but make sure to serve at room temperature.
