Basil Simple Syrup
Simple syrup got it's name for a reason...it's simple! It's equal parts sugar and water that you can really flavor any way you want. This basil simple syrup was inspired for a cocktail, and can be used in a number of things from iced sweet tea to desserts!
Basil Simple Syrup

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup whole fresh basil leaves
Instructions
Combine the sugar and water in a sauce pan over medium heat
Stir until the sugar dissolves and it comes to a simmer
Stir in the fresh basil leaves
Simmer on low for about 8-10 minutes; stirring occasionally
Allow to cool and remove the basil leaves
You can store this in a sealed container and refrigerate
