3 Freezer Friendly Healthy Treats
Warm weather is almost here!! We have had some warm days in Southern California but the weather has been a bit of a tease this spring, per usual. Since my kids are ALWAYS hungry I wanted to come up with some things I can have in my freezer that satisfy not only their hunger but also their sweet tooth without actually giving them anything unhealthy. These freezer friendly treats are also a great way to get your kids in the kitchen with you!
Make sure to watch the video below for more details on these recipes!
Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas
Ingredients:
2 bananas (this will make 4 frozen bananas)
4 popsicle sticks
10 oz chocolate chips
2 tablespoons coconut oil
baking sheet
wax paper or parchment paper
Directions:
Line a baking sheet with some wax paper (or parchment)
Cut the bananas in half
Stick the popsicle stick into the banana and place them on the baking sheet
Keep in the freezer until frozen; this can take a few hours
Melt the chocolate and the coconut oil together either in a double boiler or in the microwave
Dip the frozen bananas into the melted chocolate
*TIP: you can also sprinkle shredded coconut, sprinkles, chopped nuts, or anything like that onto the chocolate covered bananas before the chocolate hardens.
Frozen Grapes
Ingredients
grapes
baking sheet
wax paper
Directions:
Wash the grapes; I like using a fruit/veggie spray first and then wash to make sure they are really clean
Place the clean grapes onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper and place in the freezer
It will take a few hours or so to freeze
Once frozen, place the grapes in a freezer-safe bagβ¦I like using reusable bags when possible!
Place back into the freezer until ready to eat
I also like to use these in place of ice cubes! We use mason jars all of the time and I like to buy them in large amounts from Paper Mart.
Frozen Yogurt Bark
Ingredients
yogurt; any kind you like!
fresh fruit
Get the kids involved with their own kidβs knives!
baking sheet
wax paper or parchment paper
Directions:
Line a baking sheet with wax paper (or parchment paper)
Spread out the yogurt onto the lined baking sheet; I like using an offset spatula for this!
Cut the fruit into small pieces and sprinkle them around the yogurt; you can get the kids involved in this part by teaching them how to use their knives to cut the fruit (this will depend on their age)
Sprinkle the granola over the yogurt as well
Place the baking sheet in the freezer
Once you are ready to eat it you can break it up into smaller pieces
Note: depending on what kind of yogurt you use it can start to melt pretty quickly. So, be cautious when and how you plan on serving this!
