Valentine's Day Heart and Flower Pallet DIY
I love to repurpose previous crafts into something new for each holiday. I bought a wood pallet from Michael's Arts and Crafts, but I haven't seen them at the store lately. You can also get them on Amazon. I have used it as a flag for the 4th of July, and I used it as an advent calendar for Christmas. So, why not make it useful for Valentine's Day too!?
Honestly, all you need is a little paint to make a difference. I painted over the Christmas tree that I had painted for the advent calendar with white paint, allowed it to dry and applied more layers of paint until I couldn't see the green anymore. Another option if it has been previously painted, is to sand away the older paint, make sure it is clean, and then paint it.
I decided to add faux red hydrangeas for a special touch. I love that it filled in the open areas of the pallet, while leaving the white areas open. It was a pretty, and soft, way to fill in the heart of the pallet.
Valentine's Day Heart and Flower Pallet DIY
Supplies:
Wood pallet; any size you like
Paint; for this I used white and red
Sandpaper; optional
Paint brushes
Directions:
*If working with a previously painted pallet, either use the sandpaper to smooth out the surface and remove old paint, OR paint over the older paint with white paint
*Repeat with more coats of paint until the pallet looks evenly coated; allow to dry
*I freehanded a heart shape lightly with a pencil, and then painted with the red paint over it; allow to dry; paint another coat or two
*Stuff the open areas of the heart shape on the pallet with the hydrangeas once the paint is dry
