Maria's Top 5 Disney World Desserts
When you are in Disney World desserts are inescapable!! They tend to bring out the kid in me, especially in a setting like Disney World. It's fair to say, desserts are my favorite.thing.ever! Disney just does everything right...the intricate details in the parks to make them look exactly like the movies, the variety of food, and the ability to offer something for everyone from kids to adults. My favorite part of Disney World is Epcot's World Showcase. My family and I literally walked around the entire showcase eating (and drinking) in all of the different "countries" and had a blast. For foodies, it is so much fun! Ok...back to the desserts...
Sorry if the lighting isn't great in the pictures! Restaurant lighting isn't the best for photography.
#1 Warm Homemade Fritters at The California Grill
These are "Banana-stuffed, Cinnamon-dusted Fritters complemented with a Trio of Dipping Sauces" chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. OMG! I loved these because they have that wonderful "donut" taste, but they weren't heavy, oily, or overly sweet at all. They had a slight crunch on the outside that was enhanced by the cinnamon sugar. The inside is tender and doughy with a slight brightness from the banana without being overpowering. My favorite thing about the dipping sauces was they weren't overly sweet. They simply enhance the fritter and make them even more rich.
#2 The "Candy Bar" at The Grand Floridian's Narcoossees
This "candy bar" is "Dark Chocolate-Mocha Bar with House-made Guanaja Chocolate Gelato," but the part they leave out of the menu description is the little bit of crunch on the inside. This crunch, my favorite part of a real candy bar, seemed to come from large rice puffs. Extremely well-made, this gourmet version has that pleasant surprise in the middle.
#3 The Crunchy Sugar Cookie Puff With Lemon Grass Cream at Disney Hollywood Studio's Hollywood Brown Derby
( It is on the very right side of the picture)
This little puff is heavenly! Think of everything you love about a sugar cookie and then balance it with a floral sweetness of lemon grass. This tiny dessert is rich and creamy without being overly sweet.
#4 The Strawberry Shortcake at The Grand Floridian's Narcoossees
This is probably the fanciest (and best) strawberry shortcake that I have ever had. Most shortcakes are crumbly, but this one just worked!! It was very light and airy, but rich and creamy at the same time. Umm...yes!
#5 Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar... in all of the parks! This was my childhood favorite, and to be totally honest, I don't think I have had it since I was about 10 years old. It was about time! I was actually really surprised at how good this was. When I was a kid, I used to just eat the chocolate off of the ice cream and hand it to my dad... my poor dad. Luckily now I have my husband to help me with things like this. I did eat the ice cream on it this time, but it was sweet after a few bites so I had to pass it off to him...BUT it's worth it!
