Pom Pom Banner

Tissue paper in desired colors

Scissors or x-acto knife

Glue gun

Ribbon or decorative tape; optional

Directions:

*Take a sheet of tissue paper and fold it in half lengthwise (aka hotdog style)

*Cut it in half

*Use scissors or an x-acto knife to cut about ½ inch strips starting about an inch or so down from the fold at the top, all the way through the bottom of the sheet

*Repeat until the entire sheet has been cut

*Open/unfold the sheet so that it lays flat

*Starting at the center of one end, tightly roll the center until it reaches the other end, straightening any of the cut pieces as you go to prevent it from getting tangled

*Twist the center multiple times, then fold it to make a “U” shape

*Place a small amount of hot glue about a ½ to 1 inch from the top of the “U” fold, and twist the two folds together being careful not to touch the hot glue. This secures the tissue and creates that “pom pom” look. You want to make sure there is still a hole at the top of the “pom pom” so that you can fit ribbon or string through it.

*Repeat with the other half of the tissue paper sheet

*Then repeat with more tissue paper until you reach the amount desired

*You can also add some decorative tape around the top of the pom pom

*String the pom poms on a ribbon or string; you can also secure them onto the string with a glue gun to prevent them from sliding
