Easy Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard boiled eggs are a staple in our house! They are such an easy make-head as well as quick on-the-go food. Plus! It’s something that my kids will actually eat. I wanted to share the way I make them because it’s different than the classic hard boiled eggs where you put the eggs in a pot and bring the water up to a boil etc…. this way you actually (carefully) put the eggs in the boiling water to cook. When you do it this way the egg turns out much more tender, you can adjust the cooking time based on how you like your yolks cooked, and they are much easier to peel!
How to make perfect Hard Boiled Eggs
Bring a pot of water to a boil
Reduce the boil if it’s a strong/heavy boil so that it’s still boiling but not as high as possible but more of a steady boil…. haha if that makes sense! If it’s too strong of a boil it could crack the eggs.
Once it’s boiling, carefully place the eggs into the water. I like using a skimmer or a spider for this! If you don’t have either one of these you could even use tongs or a spoon. Whatever you use, do it carefully otherwise the eggs can crack. Believe me….I’ve done it!
Cook the eggs for 7-8 minutes for a nice jammy yolk. If you want it even jammier you can do 6 minutes!! If you want it more “hard-boiled” then you can cook it for 9 minutes.
When the time is finished, scoop the eggs out carefully and place them in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. You can serve them right away or place them in a container in the fridge for later.
Tips for Hard Boiled Eggs
*Make sure there is enough water in the pot to cover the eggs by about an inch.
*Don’t add too many eggs! You don’t want them to be crowded.
*If an egg cracks, don’t worry! If it’s a small crack it should cook at a similar timing. If it’s a bigger crack then allow it to cook for less time than the other eggs. Either way, the egg will still cook!
