My latest segment on The Hallmark Channel's Home and Family Show really holds a special place in my heart. Kym Douglas and I collaborated together to empower petite women. Being petite can be a struggle for a number of reasons. From finding clothes, to reaching the top shelf at the grocery store, we always seem to find ourselves in a situation that is "belittling"(pun intended).

In a society that forces us to believe that to be tall is to be beautiful, petite women find ourselves stuck. Clothing is difficult to find, so it is a never ending battle to make what we can find work for us. We want to shine a light on the positive things about being petite, and start a trend of being positive about petites. No matter your size, you are allowed to feel beautiful, and Kym and I happen to specialize in petites. We hope you will walk away from this segment feeling encouraged, uplifted, and excited to shop! I will get the video up on here as soon as I get it!

Kym and I agree on a number of different tips:

*Belt dresses; do this at your realwaist instead of where you wear your pants. This help recent a "boxy" look, which makes us feel short.

*Choose a shoe that helps elongate your legs. If you are wearing no nylons, or mude nylons, then wear a nude shoe. If you are wearing black nylons, wear it with a black shoe.

*Find a great alterations place. Petite women have to alter almost everything! from length to waist, do whatever you need to do to make them fit.

*Vertical Stripes; These are elongating as well!

*Wearing pattern is great, just choose small patterns.

Here is a quick fix for alterations:

-put the pants on and mark with chalk, or a pin, where you want to shorten them to

-remove the pants and use a ruler to measure where the pants were marked to be sure they are the same length

-if needed to shorten more then 3 inches, it's best to cut the excess length off, making sure to keep an extra few inches to fold over

- turn the pants inside out, and fold the pants over twice, to where you have the pants marked; make sure to measure again to be sure they are the same length

-Apply a layer of the "ok to wash it" fabric glue all around the inside of the fold

-Allow to dry completely; wait about 5 days to actually wash the pants
