Mackinac Island’s Original Murdick’s Fudge Celebrates with Pure Michigan Ingredients
Mackinac Island’s original fudge shop which began in 1887– Murdick’s Fudge is open for the season serving up fresh fudge made each day in its historic white clapboard fudge shop. “Our family is thrilled to be making fudge again this season for visitors from every state and countries afar; and for those who come to enjoy the island for the day,” said Bob Benser, Jr. owner of Original Murdick’s Fudge.
Original Murdick’s Fudge is made with only the freshest, all natural ingredients, most from Michigan including the sugar, butter, cream, and maple sugar. “To celebrate National Fudge Day, the Michigan Made Original Mackinac Island Fudge will serve up complimentary tastes of Mackinac Island’s Fudge Family’s best pick of Michigan ingredients…including Traverse City Cherry!” said Benser. For fudge lovers not able to visit the Fudge Capital of the World, Mackinac Island, the Benser family will ship the fudge FREE anywhere in the United States through the end of June.
“Made fresh on Mackinac Island, this year’s celebrated flavor Traverse City Cherry is made with dried cherries from our northern Michigan neighboring region, Leelanau County. We’re making a toast to the Cherry Capital of the World and to our friends at the National Cherry Festival celebrating 90 years this July. The best Michigan ingredients including Michigan Sugar, Michigan Brown Sugar, Michigan Cream, and Michigan Butter make each batch of fudge a creamy treat. We’re celebrating National Fudge Day with a salute to Pure Michigan as each batch is prepared with 93% of its ingredients coming from Michigan. A true shout out to all that Michigan has, right here in our Great Lake state,” Benser said.
Each batch of Original Murdick’s Fudge starts in a copper kettle and is painstakingly created with attention to indoor, outdoor and marble countertop temperatures, and length of time/temperature required for cooking, boiling, stirring, cooling and shaping. The art of fudge making at Murdick’s also requires skilled professionals to perform a specific and timely turn-of-the-wrist “paddling” technique when shaping the delectable fudge into loaves.
Blend a tried-and-true recipe with handcrafted, precise techniques — along with a temperate Great Lakes climate — and you get pure excellence.
“We have many of our seasoned fudge professionals back to make this season’s fudge so that our customers can enjoy only the freshest fudge during this season. Fresh fudge, brittle and toffee…what better way is there to celebrate this summer season! ” Benser said.
Murdick's Fudge Pledge of Purity
We pledge that Murdick's Fudge contains only natural ingredients including real butter, cream and Michigan sugar, no matter the expense. We will never use imitation flavorings in our products.
