DIY Marbled and Stamped Jewelry Holders
clay; as many colors as you like; make sure to find a kind that is “oven-bake”
gold paint
a cup, bowl, or something oven safe to place the clay on/in
a stamp or piece of lace with desired design
Directions
For a marbled look:
*Choose at least two different colors of clay
*Roll a piece of clay around in your hands until softened and easy to roll out
*Roll out on a covered surface, like the silicone mats or wax paper, into a long strip
*Repeat with the other colors
*Place them together and roll into one piece
*Fold it in half
*Roll it out again; and fold in half and roll again
*Roll until it creates a “marbled” look
*Use your hands to press the clay into a round shape; you can also place it between two sheets of wax paper and roll it out with a rolling pin
*For aspecific shape, such as a heart, use a cookie cutter to cut the shape
*Once it’s the size you like find a cup, or anything oven safe, that you can form the clay over to take the shape of the object
*Place the cup covered with clay onto a baking sheet
*Follow the directions on the box to bake the clay
*Once the baked clay has cooled you can paint the rim with gold paint; two coats
*Allow to dry completely
For a “lace,” “stamped,” or indented design
*Roll a piece of clay around in your hands until softened and easy to roll out
*Use your hands to press the clay into a round shape; you can also place it between two sheets of wax paper and roll it out with a rolling pin to about a ¼ inch thick
*If using a stamp, press the stamp down in the area where the design is desired
*If using lace, place the lace onto the clay and press with a rolling pin to imprint the design
*Carefully place the circle of imprinted clay in a glass bowl to achieve the same shape as the bowl
*Place in the oven and bake according to package directions
*Allow to cool completely
*Add gold paint to the rim if desired
