Bridal and Wedding Dress Ornaments
Everything about being a bride is glamorous! I loved wearing my wedding dress and veil AND carrying my bouquet! If it was up to me I would wear my veil everyday. It was the best thing ever! I was so sad when I had to send my dress off to get cleaned and packed away to never been seen again until I have a daughter or granddaughter who I will try to convince to wear it. We recently moved and I found the box that had all of the scraps of my wedding dress from alterations as well as the pins and ribbon from my bouquet. It made me so excited just to see the fabric and relive the day. It reminded me of when I put ornaments on the tree every year at Christmas. Every ornament we put on the tree has a story. My husband and I reminisce about each one that comes out of the box when we are decorating. I thought that this would be a fun way to relive my favorite dress in the world every year by making an ornament with the scraps. This is basically a shadow box ornament! You could do this with scraps from anything. If you are a new mom you could keep your baby's hospital band, cut a sheet from the hospital swaddle, etc.... There are a number of ways to be creative with this.
Memory Ornaments
All you need are clear plastic ornaments! You can get ones where the top comes off and you can stuff it through the top OR buy the ones that split in half.
A glue gun for ribbon; optional
glue and glitter; optional
scraps from an event
***Below I mention how I did each ornament***
These are the clear ornaments you want to look for. I ordered the ones that split in half on Amazon and the others I got from Michaels.
For this ornament I cut one of our invitations and placed it in the ornament that splits in half. I use a glue gun to make sure it stayed together and then used the glue gun again to attach the ribbon from our invitations. Then I tied the ribbon in a double knot at the top so that I can hang it from the tree.
This is the most simple way to go and it looks very elegant. I simply cut some scraps from my dress (both the lace and silk), added in some of the ribbon from my bouquet, and the pins from my bouquet. I used the ribbon from my bouquet at the top so that it can hang from the tree.
For the last one I did it the same way as the simple ornament and then used glue and glitter to decorated the top. I wanted to make it look a bit more glamorous!
